Governor Andrew Cuomo surprised many when he announced on August 10th that he would be resigning in 14 days. According to CHIP this eliminates many concerns. One of them being, If the State Legislature assembled to vote for Cuomo's impeachment, then they could have potentially announced the extension of CEEFPA. Although his resignation does not mean that the moratorium can't still be extended, it definitely reduces the chances of this happening. Cuomo will be replaced by Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul. Hochul will be the first female governor of New York. She recently promised to travel the state and listen to New Yorkers, she said she will always listen first and then decide on what action to take. Which leaves us not knowing where she stands in regards to the housing issues. CHIP also mentioned that due to Cuomo's resignation we might actually have a chance at reforming rent laws.
