Despite the various glitches with the system since it's launch, the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) says that COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (CERAP) payments are on their way to landlords (at least those who have priority status by filing within the first 30 days of the program's launch). There has been much frustration with the CERAP system and some lawmakers even questioned the ability of the contractor who was hired to create it. With over 160,000 applications pending, landlords and tenant alike are eager to resolve their arrears. The glitches and delays should not stop landlords and tenants from working together to complete an ERAP application, which can provide rental assistance for arrears accrued from March 13, 2020 and 12 months of rental arrears and up to 3 months of future rent for qualified applicants.
