How Did CT Spend Their Federal Funding?
Happy Tuesday!
Let's talk a little about Connecticut today. In an article published by the CT mirror, Connecticut is now going to audit how every town used their federal CARES Act funding. 169 towns and cities spent roughly $60 million in federal relief funding. This money was meant to help local governments and cover emergency costs during the pandemic. This audit has come to our attention due to a FBI investigation into the alleged misuse of the federal aid in West Haven. The FBI has arrested two former West Haven employees, one of them was a former state Democratic lawmaker Michael DiMassa, due to allegedly funneling more than $636,000 in federal relief funds to a shell company. A team of auditors is already looking through financial records to trace where the city's $1.1 million from the federal CARES Act was used for. This will help understand how this act went by unnoticed for over eight months. For more information on how your town spent the CARES Act funding check out the link below!
