OTDA Update!
Happy Friday
Yesterday CHIP released another update. CHIP mentioned that OTDA will be taking back CERAP funds if the recipient owners cannot be contacted in six months. CHIP argues that this is an extreme action given the fact that OTDA does not do enough to actually reach out to the property owners. Robocalls and emails have numerous ways of going wrong and therefore is not a sufficient way of getting ahold of these people. CHIP will continue to engage with OTDA and keep us updated. In other OTDA news, they have released a new set of numbers. 40,000 applications have been granted totaling to more than $517.5 million. 81,000 applications have been approved but are awaiting property owner participation. So if you are a landlord/ owner please keep a look out for those calls and emails. For those of you who have received overpayments from OTDA you are to send them back. The program is running out of money and unused funds have not yet been reallocated from other states to New York.
In other news the American Enterprise Institute will be hosting a seminar on Monday, September 27 at 10 am to discuss the constitutionality of rent control. You can register online if you would like to watch the seminar.
